Our story

Church of Champions began as a dream in the heart of our Founding Pastor, Wendell Hutchins. Pastor Hutchins and his family met with 4 other dreamers, some 32 years ago, in their living room. Since our journey began, our growth has transitioned us from meeting in living rooms, a storefront location, and occupying our second sanctuary location at our current campus.

We have been privileged to affect not only thousands of lives in Northwest Houston, but throughout the world through our missions and community services. We have experienced growth and unique influence through the extraordinary grace of God!

Church of Champions is a covering to covenant congregations located throughout North America as well as Africa and the Caribbean. We started with a heart for Houston, God gave us a heart for the world, and now we can’t wait to see what He does through the Champion Community next!

Pastor Hutchins:

A Visionary Leader at the Helm of Church of Champions

Since its establishment in 1988, the Church of Champions has been under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Rev. Dr. Wendell Hutchins II. Founded in the humble confines of his living room with six people, Pastor Hutchins has nurtured the Church of Champions and its auxiliary ministries into a vibrant community committed to spreading God’s word and embodying His love worldwide.

Pastor Hutchins is the founder and senior pastor of the Church of Champions and the Assistant General Overseer of the City Harvest Network in Columbus, Ohio. His global outreach extends even further as he fulfills his United Nations Peace Ambassador role based in Vienna, Austria. Pastor Hutchins is an Advocate General for Christians and the Christian faith on an international stage. Pastor Hutchins also serves as the Special Envoy of His Royal Majesty Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV – King of Tooro Kingdom, Uganda.

A master communicator and profound teacher, Dr. Hutchins is renowned for his clear and insightful delivery of Biblical truths. His teachings resonate with authenticity and practicality, providing a beacon of light for those navigating the complexities of modern faith and societal challenges.

Beyond his public roles, Dr. Hutchins is a devoted mentor to leaders and pastors worldwide, offering wisdom and guidance on issues impacting Christian communities locally and globally.

Family lies at the core of his life. Pastor Hutchins, alongside his wife, Ann, cherishes the joy of being parents to Blair (Lacey), Morgan (Blake), and James (Leah). They are also the proud grandparents of Olivia, Remington, and Archer, who continue to inspire his commitment to faith, family, and community.
